SignOut Texas Fall Outdoor Expo
Recently Russ and I attended the 2019 Fall Overland Expo put on by Texas Avid Outdoors (TAO). TAO was started in 2014 as a group of friends (Frank Albarado, Kenneth Moore, Dan MCoy, John Dager) who enjoyed the outdoors and turned their passion into annual event for outdoor enthusiasts, primarily focusing on the overland community. This year the three-day event was held at the Oxford Ranch Campground outside of Llano Texas. This is the perfect place to experience the Texas Hill Country.
The overland community is focused on vehicle-based camping and with this comes a lot of different setups. What is so great about the community is the broad acceptance of everyone’s interpretation of an overland rig. I saw so many different vehicles that range from your loaded Jeep Rubicon to an 80’s Suburban. There was a group friends that included a Tacoma, 4Runner, and a lifted WRX. Check out their setup in the picture below provided by @ostarahtx on Instagram.
The vendor area was a fun place to be and we made some new friends. We were setup next to Highland Expedition Outfitter who are making cool aluminum trailers, rooftop tents, and awnings. We got to know Grant from Sportsmobile who was one of the event sponsors and they brought out a loaded Sprinter van just waiting to be taken on the road.
Dave from Adventure Up Overland brought some cool Four Wheel Campers and a Boreas XT trailer. Kyle from Treaty Oak Offroad spoke on vehicle recovery while demoing their own recovery gear.
If you are looking for backpacking meals, then look at Packit Gourmet. They make the best trail meals and they were handing out many samples all weekend. The banana pudding was a highlight for me.
If want to cook your own meal, then you did not want to miss the cooking demos from the guys at Tembo Tusk. Their skottle can cook anything and it is convenient to use while camping and nicely stores into small spaces.
SignOut Co is built on the idea of pursing your passion and that is what you will find in the overlanding community. We met so many great folks who stopped by our booth. We got to tell our story to many people and their reception was awesome. We love seeing folks get excited about our brand.
